About Shira
I'm a certified vocal coach and a professional West End singer and actress. I recently had a great time performing in "The Band’s Visit" at The Donmar Warehouse. Teaching is another passion of mine, and I have dedicated over eight years to it. My musical journey started with piano at a very young age, then I transitioned into becoming a professional classical singer. Along the way, I explored Jazz and eventually found my place in Musical Theatre. I just love diving into music with all its different techniques and languages. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of taking the stage around the world, whether it's through classical singing, Jazz or as a musical theatre performer. An interesting twist to my journey is that I also served as a professional singer in the army.

My students come from various musical backgrounds, ranging from musical theatre and jazz to pop and classical genres. My lessons are designed for everyone, whether you're a professional, an advanced singer, or just starting your singing journey. If you use your voice and want to learn how to use it more effectively, improve your singing, grow as a musician, artist, or teacher, build confidence on stage or simply sing without overthinking it – my lessons are here to help. Over the years, I've developed my own method by integrating a range of techniques, including Estill Voice, Paula's method, classical singing technique, and more. In lessons, my focus includes: · Acting through song · Initial body awareness exercises · Breathwork and awareness of the process of breathing · Larynx control · Vocal range · Vocal qualities (Belt, mix, head voice etc.) · Musical Interpretation · Vocal health · Repertoire selection My approach to singing is deeply personal, recognising the profound connection between our voice and our entire being. Our voice, like a delicate instrument, responds to even the subtlest shifts in our physiology. That's why it's vital to not only master its movements and dynamics but also remain acutely aware of how different aspects of our bodies and emotions can shape our singing. In essence, mastering the art of singing is a journey of self-discovery, where we intimately explore the intricate relationship between our physicality, emotions, and inner thoughts, all of which come together to create the unique sound of our voice. With much patience and love, I will guide you to get to those places and to connect body and mind. I believe there are many ways to learn how to sing. Learning in a healthy manner allows you to sing a wide range of songs while also taking care of your vocal cords, giving you both versatility and vocal health.
