About Yvonne

Hi, I’m Yvonne! I’m a Pre-Ivey Finance student at Western University, and I know firsthand how challenging and competitive the business school application process can be. Having received offers from Ivey (Western), Schulich (York), Waterloo (Risk Management), and Laurier’s Dual Degree BBA Program, I understand what top programs look for and how to craft an application that stands out.

I also know that writing essays, preparing for interviews, and developing strong communication skills can feel overwhelming. That’s why I take a personalized and practical approach to help students feel confident in their applications and public speaking.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is all about personalization, clarity, and confidence-building. I know that every student has their own unique strengths, challenges, and goals, so I focus on tailoring my lessons to what you need most.

My teaching method:
The first class is all about you! :) —I take a consultative approach where we’ll have a conversation about your goals, challenges, and what you want to achieve. Whether you’re applying to a business school, working on essay writing, or looking to improve your public speaking, my priority is understanding how I can best help you.

From there, my lessons are:
- Clear and structured where I break down complex concepts into simple, actionable steps.
- Interactive as we work through real application prompts, practice essay structures, and rehearse speeches.
- I give honest, constructive feedback so you can refine your skills and boost your confidence naturally and effectively while still feeling supported

A typical Lesson will contain 4 key points:
1. Check-ins: A quick check-in to see where you’re at and set the stage for what we’ll be focusing on.
2. Concept Breakdown: Whether it’s crafting a strong personal statement or speaking persuasively, I’ll walk you through proven strategies.
3. Practice & Application: We’ll go through real examples, work through drafts, or practice speaking exercises.
4. Detailed Feedback: I’ll highlight what’s working well and what can be improved, giving you clear next steps.

Who you may be:
High school and university students applying to Canadian business schools (Ivey, Rotman, Schulich, etc.).
Anyone looking to improve their essay-writing skills for applications or coursework.
Students who want to build their confidence in public speaking—whether for presentations, interviews, or speech/DECA competitions.

At the end of the day, my goal is to make sure you feel supported, prepared, and confident. The first class is all about getting to know you, so we can build a plan that works best for your needs. Let’s get started!
