About the lesson
I am all about student-led learning. To me, the key to success when learning an instrument is to enjoy the journey as much as possible. This means we take a collaborative approach to your instrumental journey. Let's figure out where you want to go with your instrument, what excites and inspires you, and how can I help get you there?
I have been playing guitar and bass for about 20 years, I have toured Australia and the world with various bands, I have made records as an instrumentalist and as a producer and engineer and I hope to share with you not JUST the fundamental skills you need as a player, but also an understanding of all the non-instrumental tools at your disposal for the stage and studio.
I hold a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Music) and a Master of Architectural Science (Audio and Acoustics) and I am well prepared to teach students of all levels, however I am particularly excited about working with adolescents who are on the journey to starting their first band!
Lessons typically between 30-60 minutes however let's chat and see what works for you.

About Mark
I have had the privilege of performing with a number of successful acts over the course of my career, and I am currently an active contributing and touring member of several bands, including with internationally acclaimed and ARIA award winning artists. For me, music is all about connection - connection with your fellow performers, connection with your audience, and connection with the music itself. I hope to share with you the skills you need to squeeze every ounce of joy possible from your instrument.

Perfect! Mark is an excellent teacher, and my 9 year-old loves his lessons. Well planned, well communicated and offers loads of praise and support. Obviously, he is a very accomplished musician, so it was great that the lesson also included tips and techniques describing how he got to be so good. Highly recommended.
- Mark's response : Enthusiastic, and with a great ear for a beginner - well prepared to hear whether the notes being played are correct! Next challenges will include mobilising all fingers and general dexterity, and chord transitions.

Recommendations

I have been taking bass lessons with mark for three months and I would absolutely recommend him to players of all ages and capabilities. I am a beginner/intermediate player and Mark has been very enthusiastic and supportive. He is knowledgeable, passionate and has a lot of hands on experience gigging and touring with bands which was important to me when looking for a teacher. In our lessons I feel as though I learn a lot, laugh a lot and I get a lot out of them both musically and personally.
Mark has given me guitar lessons in the past and I found him to be very knowledgeable and patient. I also love that he was willing to work on the songs I chose! I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
