Hey! My name is Luis and I’ve always been passionate about chess since I started seriously playing this beautiful game 8 years ago. About the lesson

I'm a very recent medical graduate and I've been a chess coach for the University of Indonesia Chess Club for 3 years now. I am an active FIDE-rated Tournament Chess player from Indonesia.

I have many victories against Grandmasters online such as GM Nigel Short, GM Arkadij Naiditsch, GM Simon Williams, GM Denes Boros, GM Rogelio Antonio Jr, the strong IM Mykola Bortnyk, and many more. Over 30,000 online games played and a lot of practical insight to provide to you.

I’ve taught beginners up to players rated 2100 online and I will customize the lesson based on what you want to learn, or based on improving your weaknesses & improving all aspects of your game.

I have a particular fascination towards chess openings so I've looked at many things for both colours. I much prefer to teach by analyzing your games, but also to teach specific openings along with general approaches to them. I believe that I provide the largest benefit to motivated players who have specific opening troubles or questions to shape their repertoire. Chess openings cannot be separated from middlegames, we study openings specifically to better understand the resulting middlegames and what are the plans around them.

I'm not particularly interested or great at doing long-term coaching, providing exercises to solve .etc. As explained above, I'm mainly good at explaining openings, providing suggestions, finding areas of improvement, and game analysis.

DMs always open for chess questions via WhatsApp or email directly. Happy to answer any questions about chess any time, I think that the most benefit you will gain from me as a chess coach is if you ask as many questions as possible, be it about the psychology of chess, theoretical questions, or a plan to improve long-term.

Many opening files available to be shared as a result of hundreds of hours of research. If you'd like to learn one or more of the following openings, I believe that I can guide you to better understand the middlegame positions and structures:
- For white: 1.e4 (Italian Game, Ruy Lopez, Scotch Game, Open Sicilian, Advance & Exchange Caro-Kann, Advance French, and how to play against all other openings against 1.e4). 1.d4 (Queen's Gambit, King's Indian Defense, Grünfeld Defense, and how to play against all other openings against 1.d4) .
- For black: Classical Sicilian, Taimanov Sicilian, Queen's Gambit Declined, Semi-Slav, King's Indian Defense, Mainlines and Tricky Sidelines of the Ruy Lopez & Italian Game, 1.e4 e5 sidelines.

I hope to make you a better player... but especially when it comes to chess, my level of motivation is only a reflection of the yours. The more motivated and curious you are, the more motivated I can be in delivering those ideas and providing the biggest benefit.

I believe that an ideal 2-way communication facilitates your chess mind to build a strong fundamental mindset of strategy and logical play, and to challenge internal biases.
