About Joel
I have been tutoring students since I was in 6th grade and never really stopped. I saw teachers and parents get frustrated at students for not understanding what they were saying. I learned that there is always another way to explain a concept, create a study strategy, or remember a formula. A tutor needs to be imaginative and adaptable in the ways they teach and interact to help a student succeed.
When I tutor my motto is "You are never learning wrong, I can learn to teach you better."

My teaching framework is student lead. Most of the students I work with have the tools they need to succeed but lack ways to interpret and utilize the knowledge that is set in front of them. It is my job as a teacher to make sure knowledge is being taught in a way students can understand it and feel empowered enough to tell me when they don't
I do have a background in teaching students with ADHD, dyslexia, Autism, etc. My strategies vary based on what the student's needs are. My practices are based on lived experience tutoring my own ADHD and autistic siblings, students, and community members.
I predominately want to work with 7-12th grade to make sure they have the study skills to be successful in higher education. However, I have a background in tutoring from 1st grade to Seniors in College. Please let me know if you have any questions!
