Keith Armitage has been a professional musician and songwriter all his life and in 2001 he won Australian Songwriter of the Year from the Australian Songwriters Association when 5 of his songs made the finals from over 2500 entries. Upon discovering there was not much support in Sydney for new songwriters, Keith began Songwriters Live and SongCamp. Songwriters Live is a showcase night for young artists to perform their original music onstage in a venue to a live audience and gain invaluable experience. He has been running these events for over 16 years and thousands of artists have playing on his stages including Angus and Julia Stone when they were starting out. SongCamp is a weekend retreat where budding songwriters get to go away for a weekend and are taught more about the craft of songwriting and also have time to sit in a beautiful setting and write to their hearts content. Keith has studied the craft tirelessly, read every book he could find, attended countless seminars on the subject and also run competitions for new songwriters which has gained him immense knowledge from all these areas. He now has a simple easy going approach to the craft which is fun, exciting and enlightening.
