About Mel
Hi, my name is Mel. I graduated from the University of Adelaide with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
I have more than five years of experience tutoring English, particularly IELTS, to non-native English speakers who need an IELTS certificate for working visa or migration purposes. I achieved an overall IELTS Band 8, with 8.5 in Listening, 8.5 in Reading, 7.5 in Writing, and 7.0 in Speaking. I also hold a TESOL certificate.
In addition to English and IELTS tutoring, I have experience teaching Chemistry to high school and university students, as well as teaching Vietnamese to foreigners living or travelling in Vietnam.
I am proud to have helped 100% of my IELTS students successfully achieve the required score in their exams.

My teaching approach focuses on identifying my students’ weaknesses and helping them improve. I always encourage my students to understand the concepts rather than simply memorise information. I also make sure to explain anything that may be unclear, and because I am also a language learner, I understand the challenges students may face and know how to explain concepts clearly and thoroughly. Last but not least, I believe that practice makes perfect, so I provide plenty of examples and exercises to help my students build confidence and achieve their best possible scores.
