About Kavin

Hi, I’m a Year 10 student currently studying at Kambrya College, with a strong interest in math and problem-solving. I completed the SEAL (Select Entry Accelerated Learning) program through years 7-9, where I honed my mathematical skills and abilities.

I’ve always enjoyed helping others understand math, whether it’s explaining concepts to classmates or breaking down difficult questions into simpler steps. I’m patient, approachable, and focused on making sure students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

Being a student myself, I understand how math is taught in school today and the common areas where students get confused. This allows me to explain things in a way that makes sense in a student's mind, rather than just repeating what’s in the textbook.

I take my tutoring seriously and guarantee organization, reliability and effective communication during, and out of lessons. My goal is to not only help students improve their results, but also build their confidence so they feel more comfortable around numbers.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is focused on setting a free environment for questions to be asked, and building confidence for students around numbers.

I understand that many students don’t struggle with math because they’re 'not good at it', but because concepts are often taught too quickly or without being broken down properly, which is something I have experienced myself. As a SEAL student, I’ve learned how to simplify complex ideas into clear, step-by-step explanations that students can actually understand and relate to.

In my lessons, I focus on:

Breaking down topics into simple steps
Identifying exactly where a student is getting stuck
Developing understanding through guided practice
Building confidence so students can work independently

I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. I believe Math must not be viewed as a 'one-size-fits-all' learning system but rather a process developed to suit each student's needs.

Each lesson is tailored to the individual student. Depending on their needs, I can help with:

Homework support and schoolwork
Test and exam preparation
Strengthening foundational skills
Catching up on missed or difficult topics

I believe in not just giving answers but guiding students to think through problems themselves, and encouraging growth through mistakes. This is how they develop real understanding of topics rather than memorizing methods.
