About Maddie
Hi I'm Maddie and I'm a year 13 student wanting to become a tutor. I have a passion for learning as well as helping others to learn and reach their full academic potential. My aim as a tutor is to help my students to not only understand the content but to feel confident in themselves as learners. I have achieved high grades throughout my life with the help of tutors, and want to be able to provide the same help to others. Recently I achieved level 2 NCEA with course endorsement at excellence as well as subject endorsement at excellence in 3 of my 5 eligible endorsement subjects.

My lessons depend on the subject and what the student needs help with, but a lesson can range from 30 mins to 1.5 hours. Although I have not tutored before, I frequently help my friends and classmates to understand aspects of the topics we are studying. My approach is to explain the theory behind what we are doing as I find it is always helpful when the student understands the why as well as the how, and then teach the general method. I follow this with lots of practice, letting the student lead and make mistakes as this helps them learn, rather than giving them the answers straight away. I can teach a range of levels, from primary all the way up until level 1 and 2 NCEA as I have recently completed level 2 with excellence endorsement and therefore have a good understanding of the topics and examination process.
