About Valerie
I'm a native speaker of both English and Spanish and an experienced Spanish teacher. I've also been a senior secondary examiner for many years, so I can coach you to get the best out of the effort you've invested so far.
I've taught students from age 4 through to adults, but upper secondary is my favorite cohort — that's where the learning really comes together. As a bilingual speaker, I understand where native English speakers struggle with Spanish and use a comparative approach to grammar that makes it easier to understand. I teach Spanish grammar by comparing it directly with how English works, helping you understand the patterns and differences rather than simply memorizing rules.

I can prepare you for what your exams actually require, honing your skills and building your confidence. We can target grammar, text analysis and text production, develop your oral interaction skills, and practise what the actual exam will be like.
And if you haven't worked quite as hard as you should have all year, don't panic — we'll focus on what matters most so you can catch up in time for the exams.
