About Jaskiran

I have been a tutor for over two years now, and I truly care about helping people to get into medicine as I know first hand how difficult it can be, especially if you don't really know anyone else applying/ in the field. I have a true dedication to teaching and I fell in love with tutoring as soon as I started it.

About the lesson

I am a third-year medical student at the University of Leicester and I am top 10% of my cohort. I have lots of previous experience in speciality medicine interview tutoring, and I have gotten my students into their top choice unis. I am extremely passionate about helping my students to thrive and I go above and beyond when spending time thinking about what my students need to succeed. I understand what it takes to be successful to get through the interview process. I am very flexible and can offer ongoing interview preparation involving mocks. I am readily contactable and can start immediately. I am used to tutoring both MMI and panel style interviews and I will adapt my lesson accordingly to where you have applied/ what interviews you have secured.

Iqra did really well in her first session. We discussed high yield tips and tricks as well as looking at what structure is best to approach ‘personality’ type questions.
She can improve by recording herself to catch her ‘bad’ habits such as repeating certain phrases as well as analysing body language. She can also work on making her examples more specific to relevant skills discussed.

What we covered:
Today we covered general and high yield tips to score highly at interview as well as covering what structure you should use to answer ’personality’ type questions. We also practiced answering timed interview questions with feedback.

What you did well:
You did well to lay a great foundation of your answers and took on feedback well and integrated this into your answers. You also demonstrated a good understanding of the structure needed to succeed.

What to work on:
Now, you should work to build on top of your foundations to gain fluidity on answering your questions- this will come with recorded practice as discussed. Also work to be specific with your examples and think of your previous experiences which are most related to the skill discussed.
