About Alexander

From "Hallo. Ich heiße Alex." to "Ey, digga, heute Abend Spielplatz? - Boah, da hab ich voll Bock drauf!", I can teach an immense range of German speaking styles and have very specific knowledge on semantic nuances and even dialectal differences. I'm also a long-time tutor to all ages for many different subjects, be they Math, English, Latin, or what have you.

Having gone to school in Germany from 7th through 12th grade, when I graduated and received my Abitur with the best grade of 1.0 (all in German), I have a lot to share regarding my learning experiences in Germany and hope to enrich others in their journey to learn this unique Germanic language!

About the lesson

I believe in using a balanced approach that combines experiential/intuitive learning with a strong focus on grammar and linguistic accuracy, not to mention native pronunciation (e.g. considering the International Phonetic Alphabet).

In my lessons, I use a variety of teaching techniques and tools to engage students and make the learning process fun and interactive. This can include role-playing activities, reading well-known texts, and visual aids such as videos and images. I may also assign personalized homework and practice activities to help students reinforce what they've learned.

A typical lesson plan starts with a review of previous material and a discussion of any challenges the student has faced or questions they might have. Next, we focus on new grammar concepts and vocabulary, and I provide clear explanations and examples. Finally, we practice applying what has been learned through conversation exercises and other interactive activities.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my personal experience with learning German. Back as a pre-teen, I moved from the US to Germany and became fluent through self-study and immersion, so I understand the challenges and frustrations that English-speaking students may face. I also have a deep understanding of the German language and culture, not to mention today's informal speech, having lived and went to school in Germany for over 7 years.
