About Selah

I’m a guitar tutor with 11 years of teaching experience and an Associate Degree in Guitar Performance. Alongside teaching, I actively perform in jazz clubs, rock venues, and music festivals, bringing real-world experience into every lesson. This hands-on experience shapes how I teach improvisation, stage presence, and the development of a unique musical identity. My lessons are designed for students who want to explore music creatively, whether through composing, performing, or mastering their favourite styles. I focus on building strong technical skills while encouraging expression and individuality. Students learn to improvise confidently, connect with audiences, and navigate the challenges of live performance. I also mentor aspiring performers and gigging musicians, sharing practical tips for rehearsals, set preparation, and building a professional mindset. About the lesson

My guitar lessons focus on helping students grow as confident and expressive musicians. I teach fingerstyle techniques, lead guitar phrasing, creative composition, and personal expression, ensuring every student develops their own voice on the instrument. Lessons are tailored to each learner’s goals, whether they want to play soulful blues, energetic rock, or original music. I emphasise building strong fundamentals, like proper hand positioning, timing, and tone control, while also encouraging improvisation and experimentation. Students learn to analyse music, break down complex pieces, and practise efficiently. I provide exercises and backing tracks that help them develop phrasing, dynamics, and creativity. I guide students to explore their musical ideas freely while maintaining solid technique. Emotional connection and confidence are key, so I create a supportive and positive learning environment. We work on crafting solos, composing original pieces, and interpreting songs with personal style. My approach blends structured guidance with fun, imaginative practice. By combining technical skills with creative exploration, students gain the ability to perform, compose, and enjoy guitar fully. I aim to help learners excel, grow, and develop a lifelong passion for music.
