About Kayla
I am a Mathematics Tutor with 13 years experience, catering to all levels and abilities, and I am currently an Academic Staff at the University of Queensland, teaching Engineering and Maths tutorials/workshops. My experience includes 6 years working as a Mathematics 2IC at tutoring centre (NumberWorks’nWords), study leader at the University of the Sunshine Coast, tutoring marker at Kumon Australia, mentor for the Search for the Next Tech Girl Superhero and a mentor for new students at the University of Queensland.
In 2020, I graduated UniSC with a Bachelor of Creative Industries, GPA 6.63. I graduated High School in 2016, with an ATAR of 97.60. I have now returned to uni for a second time and am currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematics / Engineering (Honours) at the University of Queensland. I am 28 years old and I hold a current QLD Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
In my work as a tutor, I hope to create positive impacts in students’ lives and inspire a love for learning.

Yr 12 externals prep:
Now offering year 12 externals exam prep sessions for home schooling / distance education students for General Maths and Maths Methods. Sessions will cover revision of essential topics for the externals, followed by a break down of past paper questions, so students have the opportunity to apply concepts directly to exam material.
Sessions will be run at Caloundra Library in the group meeting rooms:
~ Maths Methods: Monday 12pm - 1pm (max capacity 5 students)
~ General Maths: Monday 1:15pm - 2:15pm (max capacity 5 students)
Sessions will start in week 1 of term 3 and run through to week 10.
An intensive version of the above sessions will be run in the school holidays after term 3.

- Yr 12 externals exam prep sessions: $95 per person (max capacity 5 students)
- Individual online tutoring: $100/hr
- Individual face-to-face tutoring: $110 (Fully booked out)

~Maths Tutoring~
Maths tutoring will focus on building core maths skills aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Topics from the current year level (or extension topics) will be presented in an engaging and fun manner with a focus on understanding ‘how’ and ‘why’ the maths works. Students regularly provide feedback that sessions are fun and they are enthusiastic about continuing – often they are surprised that maths sessions can be enjoyable. Exam prep strategies and essential skills needed to succeed in exams will also be discussed, as well as addressing common challenge areas for students during exams.

Perfect! My daughter is doing Yr 10 Math Methods and is super happy with Kayla as her tutor. We did try someone else on another tutoring platform and were not happy.
Kayla has lifted lift my daughter's confidence from feeling down and not getting the math, too I can do this now!
