About Eliza Mei
My first paid job teaching English was for three years as a college tutor in Idaho. I taught both English for international students and study skills for neurodivergent students. I managed other tutors there for a year before I graduated. When I moved to Salt Lake City, I taught at a local English school for about a year. I also have experience tutoring Spanish and Scottish Gaelic, and have taught music lessons off and on for a span of ten years.

I take a balanced approach to teaching English by addressing four skill domains: reading, writing, speaking and listening. I customize learning to the student’s interests, history and level. I especially enjoy working with college students who are not native speakers of English because they are passionate about learning and I can help things go a little easier for them: I can review their papers, help them balance their workload, and talk about cultural competence. I have also worked with parents, kids, and teenagers who are learning English.
