About Angel
I have been DBS checked and formally trained in the past for my position at Explore Learning, where I worked with a 1:1 ratio and 1:6 ratio to deliver 1 hour tutoring sessions. In addition to my work there, I have tutored 11+ for 9 years and taught Mandarin classes for 2 years.
I understand how to challenge students through my success in UKMT Maths Challenges for which I was invited to attend a summer camp at Oxford University. I obtained a Grade 9 at GCSE and Rank 1 for Mathematics and Further Mathematics A Level at Rugby High School.
I believe my easy-going personality allows students to feel comfortable to ask for help and engage in sessions. I can be a demanding tutor when necessary to make sure we are progressing as much as possible. I am a firm believer that mathematics can be understood by everybody and it really depends on finding the right teaching method.

In the initial meeting, I like to understand what methodology works best. Each student is unique and has different interests and to make lessons engaging, I find the best way to communicate topics to them. I pride myself with knowing different methodologies of teaching as well as the curriculum inside out.
I am keen to allow students to learn at their own pace, however this does not mean wasting time but understanding that some topics will come easier than others. Clear targets will be set and met each session so you can measure progress easily.
I like to keep noted of what's been learnt in the lesson on google docs which will be shared so lessons can also be reviewed and we can clearly see progress. In addition, I will give verbal feedback and summaries to parents so there's clear communication throughout.
When possible I will try to follow a similar lesson plan to school, so pupils can see their improvement in class as well as in tutoring sessions.
