About Tonia
"Standing in my studio, I watch students master spiccato and staccato bowing while correcting their posture and hold. This focus on intonation and classical repertoire defines my 9 years of teaching 331 students.
My Bachelor of Music from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music informs how I approach rhythm and timing. I find that ear training plus scales and arpeggios build the confidence needed for success. You will notice a steady, patient rhythm in how I guide your physical technique."

"Considering that technical mastery involves patience, I start by reviewing your current comfort with the bow and finger placement. Custom scale and etude sheets for each student provide a roadmap for the week. My Bachelor of Music background helps me explain complex rhythms through simple, logical steps. We move through specific exercises designed to sharpen your intonation and dynamic control.
I observe your posture closely to ensure you play without tension. These sessions prioritize a solid foundation before we expand into more difficult repertoire.
Ear training drills are integrated into each hour to improve your listening skills. I keep track of your progress to celebrate every small improvement you make. My goal is to ensure you feel supported through every practice session. I personally enjoy watching my students find their own unique sound over many months of study."
