About Isla
Scales, modes, and precise chord transitions form the foundation of how I approach the fretboard. I sit with my instrument every morning to refine the acoustic techniques that define my artistic identity. My teaching builds upon the bolero, flamenco, and chacarera traditions I lived while growing up in Colombia. I support intermediate players, teens, and advanced students who seek to integrate these distinct cultural styles into their performance.

About the lesson

You will find that our initial session focuses on assessing your current grasp of tuning, maintenance, and basic playing mechanics. I draw from my Bachelor of Music in Popular Music at Queensland Conservatorium and my Licenciatura in Argentina to provide a structured path for your progress. We move through technical exercises that cover electric performance, improvisation, and ear training to ensure a complete musical development.
Reading tabs becomes a secondary habit once we establish a solid grip on your acoustic dexterity. I enjoy explaining the nuances of different rhythms while we work through your grade exam prep together.
You might feel challenged by the speed of certain soloing techniques, but we will break them down into manageable segments. My goal is to keep our momentum steady while addressing any hurdles in your practice routine.
I adapt my technical instruction to suit the specific needs of kids and performance-focused students alike. This balanced approach ensures you develop both the ear and the fingers required for professional play. You will soon have the tools to express yourself freely on the instrument.
