About Brian

Hi there! I'm a Swahili tutor with over 10 years of experience in teaching and tutoring. I'm a native Swahili speaker, and I have a Bachelor's degree in Swahili Language and Literature from a top university. I have taught students of all ages and levels, from beginners who have never studied Swahili before, to advanced students who are preparing for exams or university studies. I use a personalised approach in my lessons, tailoring them to the individual needs and learning styles of each student. I believe that the key to success in learning a language is motivation and consistency, and I strive to create a fun and engaging learning environment that encourages my students to practice and improve their skills. In addition to my teaching experience, I have also lived and studied in several countries, including Tanzania and Kenya. This has given me a deep understanding of the cultural and linguistic nuances of the Swahili-speaking world, and I enjoy sharing this knowledge with my students. I am passionate about teaching and helping my students succeed. If you want to improve your Swahili skills and gain confidence in speaking, writing, and understanding the language, I would be happy to work with you. Karibu nikufunze Kiswahili!

About the lesson

As an online Swahili tutor, I use a variety of techniques and teaching methodologies to make my lessons student-friendly and engaging. For example, I use interactive activities, such as quizzes or games, to help students learn and retain information. I also use multimedia resources, such as videos or images, to make the material more interesting and relatable. In addition, I use a personalised approach, tailoring my lessons to the individual needs and learning styles of each student. The typical length of my lessons is one hour. This is a common length for tutoring sessions, as it allows for a focused, in-depth exploration of the material without overwhelming the student. I am a graduate tutor with a specialisation in Swahili. This specialised knowledge and experience is beneficial in teaching Swahili, as it provides a unique perspective and insights into the subject. My lessons are suitable for all levels up to A level, and for students of all ages. This means that I can accommodate a wide range of students, from beginners who are just starting to learn Swahili, to advanced students who are preparing for exams or higher education.

For the past 6 years, I have worked with Brian in a refugee camp. He has been instrumental in helping students in Dadaab refugee camp to learn and understand the Kiswahili language better. This really helped them to get better grades in their national exams. He always has a good mastery of the content.
