About Ava
Sitting down for your first session involves picking up a guitar and finding your natural posture immediately. I provide custom backing tracks so you can practice soloing at home with the same groove we develop in class. This helps beginners and advanced players lock into the rhythmic pulse of my home traditions.
We will move through scales and modes while maintaining the integrity of the original compositions. My 13 years of gigging informs how I approach lead guitar and songwriting. Expect to cover grade exam prep if that is your objective.
We balance technique with the raw joy of playing. It is just you, the music, and the process.

Fifteen years of gigging Latin music in Australia provides the foundation for my guitar instruction. Most people assume that reading tabs is the only way to succeed, but I prioritize the feel of the instrument above all else. My teaching is rooted in traditions I grew up with like bolero, flamenco, and chacarera.
These styles inform how I guide advanced learners and absolute beginners alike. I have spent 13 years refining how to bridge the gap between technical skill and emotional expression. My work is designed for performance-focused students who crave authentic technique.
Acoustic maintenance and music theory are woven into these sessions to ensure long-term growth. Many students find that our integrated cultural approach transforms their relationship with the fretboard. You will leave these lessons with a deeper connection to the music.
