My teaching method will consist of a student-centered approach and will be an inclusive environment. My approach to learning and teaching is to use and include real life activities, including modelling of processes, to utilise reflection, use feedback: open ended questions, collaborative construction of knowledge that include the use of differentiation and scaffolding strategies. To promote and develop learning outcomes, I believe feedback on students’ work is a must. Providing constructive feedback is essential for student learning as it helps with achievements and improvements in the future. Before my lessons are conducted, I will encourage my students to set their own learning goals on what they want to achieve before the end of the lesson. This will promote self-assessment and encourage students to aim for a certain goal. From this, if the goal has not been achieved, I will sit down with the student and discuss why they haven’t achieved it. I will then give them feedback on how they could have achieved it next time.
I have graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Education P-12 degree. My studies have provided me with the theoretical grounding. I have been out of University for two years now and gained more experience through Casual relief teaching and now being a full-time Primary School teacher. A passion for teaching in my specialised subjects, Maths and Humanities, ignites enthusiasm and urges students to achieve their personal best.
