I believe the most efficient way to learn a foreign language is through using it in real-life applications. I utilize and encourage students to study the French language via text (such as articles pertaining to current events, sports, and other interests) and audio/video in subjects that interest the individual.
As an example, I myself love sports. I've made the most progress improving my own French as a student through reading texts and watching videos about sports!
