About Amy
I gained at First Class degree at the University of Cambridge in English and Education (which included Psychology, Sociology, History and Philosophy, as well as a good deal of Business and Research Methods as as part of this degree) and I have been tutoring for over 10 years on these subjects and academic writing ever since. My main subjects (including essays, dissertations and theses) include:
Psychology (A-Level to Doctorate level, including Counselling Psychotherapy)
Sociology (A-Level to Doctorate level)
Film & Media (Undergraduate - Postgraduate level)
Marketing and Business (Undergraduate - Postgraduate level)
Academic writing (proofreading, UCAS applications, CVs, and general English grammar, structure, and vocab skills)
I specialise in dissertation and thesis assistance, academic writing for essays, and in research methods, particularly qualitative data, including using thematic analysis, grounded theory, discourse analysis and IPA. I have also written model essays for exam boards, and proofread and edited work to be published.
My students all get firsts or high 2:1 grades for the work I have assisted them with.

I work systematically with tutees: I generally meet them online first and get to know their requirements or what they are struggling with, and I might see some samples of their work to get a feel for their style and general abilities. I'll then schedule in some time to work offline, tracking any edits and changes I make to their document (which could be a first draft or just a simple plan), as well as making lots of comments to help steer the work in the right direction. I have a keen eye for detail, and know that a good argument is critical to any piece of work, so will assist you in generating that. I can also work online, if students prefer, especially if they have no idea where to start with a piece of work!
I have worked with APA and Harvard editing/referencing styles.

Amy is a fantastic tutor, she really takes time to understand what it is I need help on and focuses her sessions to address these. She listens intently and engages fully with the session. She has been so helpful and is very quick with returning contact. She is very reliable and approachable too! Would definitely recommend. Thanks Amy!
Amy is a really supportive and friendly tutor, who always works at my pace and adapts to my style of working to help me learn
Amy has helped me out on many assignments over the years and has been utterly invaluable. She is endlessly patient and if I don't understand something, she will always find a fun way to explain. I never thought I would actually look forward to sessions but I do! I can't recommend her services enough.
Amy is a wonderful tutor! She was recommended through a friend - she's reliable, organised and keen to help you understand absolutely everything. I was struggling to grasp concepts and she helped me find ways for it all to 'click'! I can't recommend her enough! Thank you Amy!
