About Maria
Teaching is rewarding because it gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' lives. I enjoy helping learners develop their understanding, build confidence, and realise that they are capable of achieving more than they initially believed.
I believe that every student learns differently, so I take the time to understand their individual strengths, challenges, and goals. By adapting my teaching to suit each learner, I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing critical thinking skills, and becoming more independent learners.
As a tutor, I value the opportunity to work one-to-one with students. This allows me to personalise lessons, identify gaps in understanding, and provide targeted support that helps students make steady progress. My aim is not only to improve academic performance but also to develop confidence, resilience, and a genuine enjoyment of learning.
With over 10 years of experience teaching Health & Social Care, Psychology, Sociology, and IB Anthropology, I have developed a patient, engaging, and structured approach to learning. I enjoy breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and using real-world examples to make learning meaningful and memorable.
For me, education is about more than achieving good grades. It is about inspiring curiosity, encouraging students to think critically, and giving them the knowledge and confidence to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

My tutoring approach is personalised, supportive, and engaging. Every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to their individual strengths, areas for development, and learning goals. I believe that students make the greatest progress when they understand concepts rather than memorise facts.
With over 10 years of teaching experience, I create structured lessons that build confidence step by step. I use real-life examples, discussion, retrieval practice, and exam-focused activities to help students develop both subject knowledge and the skills needed to succeed in assessments.
I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and become independent learners. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to help students enjoy learning and feel confident in their own abilities.
