About Sarah Jane

Hi! I'm Sarah. I'm an artist who develops tools and classes for building a creative mindset. I teach Cartoon Club online art classes for children, adults and businesses on the power of drawing and the benefit of working together creatively. I illustrate a line of animal-inspired greeting cards and I’ve created colouring and doodle books, the Introduction to Cartooning Online Course and the Cartoon Club drawing game – to inspire curiosity and creativity at any age. My hope is that the tools I’ve designed to make happy changes in my own life, will help you do the same.

About the lesson

Is your child always doodling? Do they love to create cartoons? This is the class for them!

Class is a 1-hour online drawing lesson, ideal for ages 8 - 12 with a fun, challenging, narrative cartoon theme.

As an artist my goal is to help children learn to draw by sharing their love of cartoons – and ultimately, having fun while building creative confidence.

What will children learn?

Children will enjoy fun doodling challenges, cartoon drawing exercises and learn techniques from my Doodle Colour Discover workbook inspiring curiosity and a creative mindset.

Drawing lessons include capturing expression, using angles to add excitement, bringing characters to life with motion, and telling a comic story. Each lesson has a theme linked to a creative challenge to help children discover a style all their own.

Cartoons are a fantastic way of engaging the imagination. My approach to cartooning is about being curious, observant and experimental. Drawing is really about learning to see. Each drawing lesson leads students through the design process – children discover they can draw pictures they never imagined possible. This method not only improves drawing ability but also gives children the confidence to express their ideas visually and the skills to apply this thinking to other creative challenges.

The online lesson is very similar to my live classes; there is a lesson, a demonstration, and we all get drawing. Children are encouraged to ask questions, get feedback and share their work. It's all about building creative confidence!
