About Oisín
Hi there! I'm Oisin Fitzgerald, a Physics with Astrophysics undergraduate at Queen's University Belfast with a real passion for math and physics—and more importantly, a real passion for helping others understand them.
I know first-hand how intimidating these subjects can feel. I watched my younger sister struggle through math in school, getting lost in the pace of the classroom and feeling like she was falling behind. It wasn't that she wasn't capable—she just needed a little more time, a different explanation, and someone patient enough to break things down differently. When I started sitting with her after school, I saw her confidence grow as those "impossible" concepts finally clicked.
That experience changed how I see teaching. I realized that every student learns at their own pace, and the classroom doesn't always allow for that. Some of us need to ask the "dumb" questions (spoiler: there are no dumb questions) or hear things explained in a few different ways before it sticks. And that's completely okay.
Since then, I've tutored two Leaving Cert students privately, and I've loved watching that same transformation happen—the moment when frustration turns into "Oh! I actually get this now!" is amazing.
I'm not here to lecture at you. I'm here to work with you, at your pace, in a way that makes sense to you. Whether you're preparing for exams, trying to catch up, or just want to finally enjoy math and physics, I'd love to help you get there.
Outside of uni and tutoring, I'm into sports and love playing music, and have a real passion for everything I try.

MY METHODS:
Every student learns differently, so I tailor each session to the individual. My typical approach is:
1. Diagnose – We start by identifying gaps in understanding. I ask questions to see where the confusion lies.
2. Simplify – I break complex topics into small, manageable pieces using analogies and visual aids (diagrams, graphs, or even quick sketches).
3. Practice – We work through problems together, then gradually move to independent practice so you build confidence.
4. Review – We end each session with a quick recap and set clear goals for the next lesson.
LESSON LENGTH:
Standard lessons are 1 hour, but I'm flexible—45-minute sessions for younger students or 90-minute deep-dives for exam prep are available on request.
MY QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of private tutoring experience – have successfully tutored two Leaving Cert students in person, helping them build confidence and improve their grades in math
- Strong background in calculus, mechanics, electromagnetism, and quantum physics from my degree
- Achieved H2 in both Math and Physics in the Leaving Cert
