About Will
Will Davenport is a London-based composer originally from Stoke-On-Trent. His work bridges contemporary-classical, electronic and music for media. Will’s music is colourful and immersive, exploring new textures and sound worlds. He produces immersive electronic beat-driven music through the moniker strange signal, and composes music for film under his own name.
Will most recently collaborated with Isabel Gracefield at RAK studios, providing additional piano and strings arrangements for LEA G’s upcoming 2025 EP. He was also selected for the PRS New Streams development scheme (in partnership with PUSHER Music) where he composed and recorded trailer music with the renowned Riot Ensemble. As part of this development scheme, Will received mentoring from the Ivor Novello nominated Chris Roe.
In 2024, Will was music assistant to the IVOR award-winning composer Hannah Peel, on the haunting and cinematic soundtrack for the Paramount+ series INSOMNIA. In the same year he also composed Shimmering Strings, a lush, cinematic library album released for No Sheet Music, with Viola parts performed by LSO Violist Annie-May Page.
As a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s prestigious Electronic Music course, his work has featured in projects for The Barbican Film Festival and The National Trust. During his time at Guildhall, he composed two site-specific works for award-winning artist Leo Villareal for his new lighting of London’s Thames bridges. In 2021, Will collaborated with LSO Violist Anna Bastow on an interactive piece for Augmented Reality, SHIMMER. The project features its own app, called hARmony.
In addition to his composition work, Will plays an active role in the industry in advocating for Songwriters and Composers’ rights, as Membership Councils and Office Coordinator at The Ivors Academy. He founded the Academy’s LGBTQI+ Working Group.

Will has been the most amazing teacher. He’s helped me to improve my confidence as a composer and producer, thanks to his sessions I now have a new EP of music. He is warm and friendly and makes me feel inspired to compose.
Will is a great teacher, he was always prepared for every lesson and had great teaching resources. He is very patient and I learnt a lot in my lessons with him. Would highly recommend!
Having known Will as a fellow musician and teacher for a number of years, I have always been struck by his great commitment to all he does. He is a clear communicator and well-rounded musician who has a lot to share. I know that in his teaching practice so far, he’s always tailored his approach to the individual’s learning style and musical interests.
Will has taught me piano for a year now. He started teaching me a month before my piano grade, where his teaching skills and expertise helped me quickly develop my technique and improve my confidence as a performer. Will's encouraging and sunny disposition make every lesson worthwhile and I would 100% recommend him to anyone wanting to learn piano and improve their musicianship.
