About Sibusiso Celani Bhekani

Who I Am

I am a Chemical Engineer by profession, but beyond my engineering background, I am someone who is deeply enthusiastic and passionate about learning, teaching, problem-solving and applying the mind to technical challenges.

I enjoy understanding not only what the answer to a problem is, but why it is the answer and how we can develop a clear, logical approach to arrive at it. This is one of the qualities I bring into my tutoring.

I have a genuine passion for nurturing learners and helping them work towards excellence. Over the years, I have become particularly interested in understanding the difficulties that students experience when learning different subjects. Sometimes the challenge is not that a learner is incapable of understanding a subject, but that the concept has not yet been explained in a way that connects with how they think and learn.

That is where I believe I can make a meaningful difference.

Why I Want to Tutor

I want to tutor because I enjoy seeing a learner move from confusion to understanding, from uncertainty to confidence, and from simply knowing an answer to being able to solve a problem independently.

My approach is centred on understanding each learner's needs and adapting the teaching process accordingly. I can work with students on a one-on-one basis, identify areas of difficulty, break complex concepts into manageable parts, and progressively develop their analytical and problem-solving abilities.

As a Chemical Engineer, I have also had exposure to industry, which has given me an appreciation of the connection between what we learn in academia and how knowledge is applied in the real world. I believe education should do more than prepare students to pass examinations. It should develop the ability to think, analyse, solve problems, communicate ideas and apply knowledge effectively.

This is why I am passionate about tutoring. I want to help learners build a strong academic foundation while developing the mindset and problem-solving capabilities that can prepare them for their future studies, careers and challenges.

Ultimately, I tutor because I believe that every learner has the potential to achieve excellence when given the right guidance, appropriate challenges, consistent support and an approach to learning that works for them.

About the lesson

If chosen as your tutor, I will bring a practical, personalised and results-oriented approach to teaching and learning. My goal is not simply to help students obtain answers, but to help them understand how to approach problems, analyse information, develop logical reasoning, and apply their knowledge to real academic situations.

I have several years of tutoring experience, working with learners from high school through to tertiary level. Through this experience, I have learnt that students have different learning styles, strengths, challenges and academic needs. I therefore adapt my approach accordingly, offering one-on-one support, structured lessons, revision sessions and targeted classes depending on the student's circumstances and areas requiring improvement.

My teaching approach places strong emphasis on practical problem-solving and analytical thinking. I encourage students to understand the principles behind a problem rather than relying on memorisation. This enables them to approach unfamiliar questions with greater confidence and develop skills that can be applied across different subjects and situations.

Over the years, I have developed what I consider a credible model of teaching and learning, built around focused work, continuous improvement and appropriately challenging students according to their level of development. The objective is to create an environment where students can progressively strengthen their understanding, identify their weaknesses, build on their strengths and work towards academic excellence.

As your tutor, I will therefore aim to provide more than conventional tutoring. I will work with each learner to understand where they are, where they need to be, and what practical steps are required to get there. I believe that with the right guidance, consistent effort and an approach suited to the individual learner, students can significantly improve both their academic performance and their confidence in solving problems independently.
