About Meredith
Originally from the East Coast, and a SoCal resident for the last decade, I am both an experienced student and teacher. My understanding of both roles will help you in your role as the learner. I have lots of empathy for the struggles we all might face in school, and want to help you produce your best work with as little stress as possible. Whether you need help organizing your research, getting started on (or refining!) those college application essays, or simply need someone who can better explain what DNA polymerase is actually doing in a cell, I can help!
My lessons are curated around you and your needs. I am versatile in approach; I believe each individual has a best way to hear information so it sticks. I place a lot of importance on being able to speak your way through learning - often it is only when we try to explain something that we realize we don't fully understand the core concepts.
I have a wide range of skill sets given my dual nature as an academic. I majored in Biology, with a focus on ecology, evolution and behavior. I am in a biological anthropology graduate department, where I work with both a microbiologist and a stem cell biologist on inflammation in the brain.
As a highly successful California Community College transfer student, and successful PhD applicant, I have experience crafting excellent application packages - from essays to activity lists. I can also help with your writing - whether they are essays for history, english or research-based. So often it is the organization of our arguments that keep us from being as impactful as we'd like in our writing - I can help clear that right up so your ideas can shine!

Details
I am happy to meet remotely and can host interactive learning through zoom. I also have all of the UCSD campus at my disposal, so if you prefer in person we can meet in the library, outside or in my office. I can come to you but I need to include a small surcharge for travel depending on distance.
