About Riley
I am a dedicated violin tutor with 6 years of teaching and performing experience, passionate about helping students grow as skilled, confident, and expressive musicians. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning basic techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the most rewarding milestones in my career has been watching students develop from hesitant beginners to confident performers capable of playing with technical precision, emotion, and expressive artistry.
My teaching emphasises strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and performance expression. I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide a complete musical education.
Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace, learning style, and goals, creating a patient, supportive, and motivating environment where students feel encouraged to explore, experiment, and excel. Teaching violin allows me to instil confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for music in every student I teach.

I teach violin using a methodology centred on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to nurture technically proficient, expressive, and confident musicians. Lessons are fully customised to each student’s goals, abilities, and learning style, blending structured technical exercises with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.
Motivation drives engagement. I help students set meaningful goals, track progress, and celebrate achievements, fostering perseverance, self-confidence, and a lifelong passion for music. Students learn to approach challenges positively and value consistent effort.
Communication ensures lessons are interactive, collaborative, and supportive. Students are encouraged to ask questions, share challenges, and explore ideas freely, creating a productive and engaging learning environment.
Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to explore their artistic voice and develop emotional expression. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice, respect for learning, and long-term consistency, cultivating habits that ensure continued progress and success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and introductory piano, providing a complete musical foundation that nurtures technical mastery, artistic expression, and lifelong engagement.
