About CR
I have taught English for 18+ years and am a licensed HS English teacher. I am also a trained life coach (UW-Madison). My BA is from the University of Virginia, I later finished an M.Ed. in Missouri (UMSL), and I am now one semester away from an M.A. in English Literature from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English. With nearly two decades of experience working one-on-one with hundreds of students to help them analyze and enjoy the books that they read, I engage with students through conversation and questioning to guide them towards becoming literary analysts. The best way to develop analytical skills is to practice with books that you love, but required reading works as well. My students ease into loving books! (Neurodivergent friendly.)

Lessons begin with setting the instructional goals. Next, our conversation focuses on the agreed-upon skills as well as the reader’s opinions and reactions. I LOVE to discuss books with students. Additionally, I can provide essay instruction or support. I can also read books aloud to students who struggle to focus and need help and practice training their brains to slow down and enjoy books.
