I base my lessons on what the student is struggling on and often work off of questions brought to me in a specific area. I help to break down the problems into more easily manageable parts then work slowly to confirm understanding. I always make sure that the student understands the information received.
I am a student who has recently completed A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I have tutored my peers throughout both GCSEs and A-Levels and have experience in explaining concepts concisely. I also hold an offer to study Medicine at Cambridge University.

I have experience volunteering as both a Reading Mentor and Academic Mentor for my school. In both roles I sat one to one with a younger pupil lower down the school on a regular basis and helped them with areas they struggled in or felt less confident.
As a Reading Mentor I listened to my mentee read aloud and offered gentle suggestions and guidance to both improve their comprehension and confidence. Both improved greatly by the end of the year.
The next year I realised that there was a gap that could be filled and I personally set up an Academic mentoring scheme as a Prefect to help bridge the gap between teachers and pupils scared of asking for help. The scheme mirrored that of the Reading Mentors but offered more flexibility for me to teach a subject I was passionate with. I tutored my pupil for Biology and helped to increase her understanding for the topic and general confidence.
Throughout both A-Levels and GCSEs I have had much experience in explaining the course to my peers, as the one always sought after with questions I quickly learned how to answer questions effectively and in a way that provided an alternate or easier way to interpret a certain idea. Especially in Mathematics, where I wrote effective study aides and essentially acted as a teaching assistant in class whenever help was required by my peers. As the saying goes: "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." - Albert Einstein
