About Carlos

I have been working as an English teacher for 5 years both in Spain and the United Kingdom. I do not only teach English to students that wish to sit for official examinations, such as Cambridge, Trinity or IELTS, but also to professionals who need to gain confidence and fluency to deal with partners from different countries. I also work to help people who just want to improve their command of the English language and gain confidence and independence.

In the last 5 years I have worked with some 350 students and I have to say that it has been a very rewarding experience not only for having helped them achieve their immediate objectives, but also because, in many cases, I have contributed to opening new doors both in the academic and professional fields.

About the lesson

Hi!

My name is Carlos. I am a Tourism and Economics graduate and a TEFL-certified ESL teacher who has extensive experience in the world of Tourism and Sales as well as EFL teaching.

In my classes speaking and listening activities make up most of the time because these are more complex skills that usually require more time to master when learning a foreign language . It is for this reason, that I always put forward speaking topics that are appealing to my students so that we can get ideas first and then work on how to communicate those ideas in different ways. For example, sometimes we have dialogues where my students have to use different functions of the language, such as expressing agreement and disagreement, asking for information, making suggestions ... However, on some other occasions my students have to make a presentation, which implies organizing ideas and linking them by using different connectors (Firstly, secondly, on one hand, on the other hand, as a conclusion ...). These aspects are very important to speak and write properly. *Examiners pay close attention to connectors and linking words.

In this regard, listening tasks also play mayor role in my lessons as an instrument to get used to real spoken language and learn new vocabulary and idioms.

On the other hand, I teach gramar (only when necessary), but in a simple and practical way because it is not the purpose of my lessons, but a valuable tool to speak and write correctly.

Finally, if my students wish to sit for an offcial examination such as Cambridge, Trinity or IELTS examinations, I give them the tips and teach them how to approach different types of writing tasks (essays, reports, reviews, proposals ...).

* The area where I work is Granada, Albolote, Maracena, Atarfe, Peligros and Armilla. (In-Company lessons).

* My work schedule is from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

* Duration of classes: 90 minutes. (60 minutes minimum for online lessons)

* Progressive discounts per person in classes with more than one student.

Details

In-Company classes: 90 minutes for 1 student, 20€ (13€ per hour).
Online classes: At least 60 minutes (13€ per hour).
Business English lessons: 15€ + V.A.T. per hour.
*5€ on top per additional student.
