About Jivanka
I am Jivanka Pathirage, currently pursuing a master's degree in the Engineering Department at the University of Cambridge. With over a decade of experience in tutoring mathematics, I have taught students following both the local and Cambridge A-Level Mathematics syllabus while I was in Sri Lanka. Beyond just teaching the subject, I strive to mentor my students throughout our time together and even after the tutoring sessions have concluded. I share personal insights on how I navigated through mathematics, my strategies for tackling exams, and the techniques I use to alleviate stress as exams approach. Therefore most of my past students are still in contact with me.

My approach to tutoring differs on the requirements of the student.
1. For students who are unfamiliar with the subject matter, I begin with an introduction to the theory, followed by guided practice with questions to reinforce their understanding.
2. For students preparing for an exam less than four months away, my focus shifts to working with "past papers & model papers." I approach this by discussing one paper during a session and then providing another for the student to attempt independently. I ask students to submit their attempts approximately two days before our next meeting, allowing me time to review their work. Our subsequent session involves going through the past paper they attempted, discussing solutions, and understanding their approach. The number of past and model papers we cover depends on the student's pace and proficiency.
This methodology ensures tailored support that addresses the individual challenges and goals of each student, enhancing their learning experience and outcomes.
