I encourage students to take the lead when opening a session. The topic for a session will normally be dictated by where students are at in terms of their knowledge level and university requirements. If all students participate it makes for interesting and focused discussions. I act as a facilitator but am able to have input where knowledge may be lacking. Questions from students are encouraged and I facilitate the group to put forward their suggestions. Should the session stall I will initiate conversation and debate by taking my queue from the topic under study. I will provide support material when and if required but I prefer students to research their own topics which, teaches them an invaluable skill. Direction will be provided if students are unable or find it difficult to know where to start or simply have difficulty understanding what is required of them.
I am a registered teacher, trainer, human resources manager, master of business administration and graduate lawyer. Students from Rockhampton to Yeppoon and in between are able to join a study group or an individual session to improve their results or just to interact with other like-minded students. Working in a group improves not only your results but your communication skills and confidence to express your opinions in an encouraging and supportive environment.
If I travel to another area that is more than 15 kilometres away I charge an extra 20c/kilometre over 15 kilometres. Should a student cancel after the 3rd tutorial I generally do not refund but exceptional circumstances may be considered. Students are encouraged to attend tutorials online or if they prefer individual sessions, I encourage them to come to my place. Group sessions are generally more productive.
Being a registered teacher I have the necessary police checks so I guarantee their safety.
