About Brooke
I am a local speech-language pathologist who works in a local public school. Prior to becoming an SLP, I worked providing educational assessment and intervention in local educational intervention clinics, private schools and in a Montessori school. I live in East Charlotte with my family and 4 cats and a dog. I love to cook, spend time with family and friends, travel a bit, go see concerts and read when I have time. I love my work building confident learners and using my experience and skills to forge positive relationships with my students and their families.

I use a strengths-based approach to determine a child's strengths and needs in academic and functional communication. When the areas of strength and need are established, a research-based plan is created to address the skill development needed, building on existing skills and areas of strength. Skill development is scaffolded so that the connections are understood and follow-up activities are accessible. Kids deserve to feel like capable learners, and that is my overall goal. My approaches work when other approaches may have failed. I am unique in that I am a certified Speech-Language Pathologist AND I have extensive experience working with students with Reading, Writing and Math; Executive function/Organization, task completion strategies, test-taking strategies and other identified areas of need. I have experience with Lindamood-Bell Programs/approaches and spent years working in a Montessori School. This broad experience gives me a perspective and set of tools that can address the needs of a wide variety of learning needs. If your child has an IEP or learning plan at school, I'm happy to support those goals if appropriate.
