About Peter
I'm Peter, a qualified chemical engineer. I started out as a chemistry lab technician and completed my engineering degree while working full-time. For 12 years I worked in pharmaceutical analytical labs, and in my later years there I trained apprentice lab technicians myself. Today I help students truly understand chemistry.
My belief: chemistry is fun once you understand it. As long as you just memorize it, it stays hard and abstract. That's why I won't give you formulas that are forgotten after the next test. I show you the connections behind them. Once you've got those, you can solve problems you've never seen before.
That's also why I see myself as a coach rather than a tutor. We don't just get through your next homework sheet. We work on you thinking independently and solving problems with confidence.
Whether you're struggling with the basics, trying to keep up in class or preparing for your final exams: we'll keep working until it clicks. The goal is that you walk into your next exam knowing what you can do.
I'm originally from Germany, so English is my second language. I speak it well, though not like a native speaker, and I'll always make sure we understand each other.

In my lessons you won't get ready-made answers. I help you understand the ideas behind the formulas, so you can solve problems on your own, even ones you have never seen before. Chemistry is fun once you understand it. As long as you only memorise it, it stays abstract and stressful.
How a lesson works:
• We look at where you are right now and what's holding you back.
• We break the topic down into steps you can follow, using examples from everyday life and the lab.
• We work directly on your own tasks: homework, assignments, tests or exam preparation.
• At the end, we sum up what you've understood today and what we'll work on next.
Lessons usually run for 60 minutes. Over time, we build a study strategy that suits the way you learn.
A quick note on language: English isn't my first language. My English is solid but not perfect, so I sometimes take a moment to find the right word. When it comes to chemistry, that's actually a plus: I explain things in simple, clear words instead of hiding behind complicated phrasing.
My experience:
I'm a qualified chemical engineer and spent 12 years in pharmaceutical analytical labs in Germany, where I also trained apprentice lab technicians. Since then, I've been helping school students and trainees understand chemistry instead of just learning it by heart.
