About Christine
I graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry (3.7 GPA, summa cum laude) from the City University of New York. I've worked as a math, science, and English tutor for almost ten years in academia, learning centers, and privately. As an undergraduate, I was employed at CUNY's Writing Center where I assisted university students ranging from remedial to graduate-level craft written works for classes and personal statements for entry into competitive programs. Additionally, I freelanced as a private Math/Science tutor where I helped hundreds of students of all levels understand the beauty of the physical and natural sciences to achieve the test scores and grades they needed for high class grades. As an undergraduate, I attained entry into numerous competitive summer internships with personal statement components and therefore can also assist with these endeavors as well as college admissions.

I have experience tutoring students of all ages, including elementary, middle, and high school, as well as college students and adults returning to the classroom. I believe every student has the potential to do well even in their least favorite subjects with the right support networks and I individualize each lesson to meet the student's specific needs and goals. I have worked with students of all abilities and can provide accommodations and adapt to special learning environments tailored to each individual. I have experience working with students who have intellectual disabilities, ADHD, English Language Learners (ELL/ESL), and other special needs. My personal approach to tutoring is to guide students to the right answers with leading questions and thought exercises such that a natural understanding is built rather than memorizing information that is quickly forgotten after an exam. I believe in building students' confidence over time until they are comfortable with a subject which eventually leads to mastery of the material.
