About Gemma
I attended Loughborough University where I read Medicinal Chemistry (2.1). After university I spent ten years working in financial services, in operations and trading at asset management firms. My academic and professional experience gives me a solid foundation in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and real-world application Outside of work, I’m passionate about horse-riding and creative writing, and I bring that same focus and curiosity into my teaching. I am also a qualified yoga instructor. Help and advice from someone who had been through school, university and the workplace, was invaluable to me when I was taking exams. It is important to feel seen & understood, as well as given direction. I want to pass my experience and knowledge on in a way that feels relevant, engaging, and empowering.

I offer in-person 1:1 support in GCSE Maths, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as A-Level Chemistry. My sessions are structured, engaging, and designed to meet individual needs – whether aiming for top grades or need support building confidence in the classroom. I take time to understand how people learn best – whether they’re visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic (hands-on) learners – and tailor my teaching to match. Lessons are 1 hour long and combine: Personalised teaching that suits their learning style Past paper practice and real exam technique Answer structure tips to maximise marks Clear explanations that make tricky concepts accessible A calm, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions My goal is to help students not only understand the subject, but also develop the skills and self-belief they need to succeed in exams and beyond.
