• Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  I remember vividly my first computer experience was with the command line DOS mode and windows 95. It was surreal as a kid, I was introduced to a technology that paved way for me to take up career and embraced the profession well. At this stage, I still very much enjoy every moment of it.

• What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

  IT and computers is very broad. When it comes to technological evolution, I'd say it is in the networking area. I took up Cisco certifications many years back and realized this is where my skills will be properly utilized. I have been renewing my certifications when needed to keep me updated.

• Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

  I believe my expertise lies within networking. As it is the core of all IT, I like the fact that my area handles manipulating network traffic, making sure it is efficient and secure. As networking is the foundation where all other IT fields rely on for their traffic and communication, this is very important in any industry. Especially at present where everything talks to the cloud, wirelessly, and to the internet; this is the age where everyone uses it day to day. And we as network engineers are here to make it happen.

• Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  Without Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, the technology will not be where it is right now. They have built a strong base for others to follow and improve. Right now there are a lot of role models contributing to this worldwide along with Mark Zuckerbert and others, and just amazing how technology never stops to innovate.

• What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

  I get this a lot, and there's levels to this. When it comes to extreme complication, then this is where we network engineers step in and do our part. But for the general public, they have to know and be updated with technology on a certain level. Whether we like it or not, everyone is dealing with this at present times and will continue to evolve in the future.

• What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

  Yes I do have other passions non-computer related. I play the guitar and doing boxing as my fitness activity outside of work. I also do hikes, and scuba diving.
