About Athenkosi
A Civil engineering graduate from UCT. Doing my second year Masters in Online Learning Design. I love teaching and learning.
I have been tutoring since Grade 10. I have successfully tutored over 10 students per year since my first year.
I have always desired to work with weaker students before students who do well, this is because if I can deal with a weaker student, I can also deal with any student. I have therefore managed to get a student from 48% to 71% since Grade 10 to Grade 11 (2 years) whilst they were engaged with extra-curricular activity. I have also gotten a student from 68% to 81% in their from GRADE 11 to Grade 12 exams.

My name is Athenkosi Nzala, I tutor high school student in class and private. I do well in both environments.
My teaching metholody is meaningful learning. Where a student can learn how they learn, and use this as a weapon to connect learning through the daily enjoyment I will facilitate. I then help the student to apply that connected learning.
I first profile a student. This means I get their previous reports, extra-curricula activity, family background and setting, their way of learning. I get to interview them on the zero lesson to see how they are and get to have them express how they feel about the subject and what their goals are (with the presence of parents). My intention is always to get the parent involved in the journey. One of the best ways of learning when a student gets to have their confidence and inspiration lifted, as well as have someone believe in them and orientate a reason why doing well in the subject is important.
Lessons are comprised of creativity (because I would like to know the best way the learner learns), so these are stories that accomodate Maths, these are quizzes, etc. I offer incentive for the learner to make the lessons enjoyful and engaging. My lessons will never be dull, I do not like doing something I do not enjoy. I enjoy teaching people.
