About Clara

Hi! I am Clara and I am a Master's student at the London School of Economics. I recently graduated from Durham University with a degree in International Relations. I am bilingual in Spanish and English as I was born and raised in Spain and have attended a British school. I play national volleyball league in the UK and enjoy volunteering whenever I am free.

I have experience tutoring English IGCSE for two years. Through engaging and dynamic lessons I helped my student improve her English writing skills and pronunciation and dramatically improved her overall end of year grade from a C to an A.

During my first and second years at university, I tutored Spanish A level to a homeschooled student, guiding her through the syllabus as her only teacher of the subject and helping her achieve an A at the end of the two years. Throughout this time I also tutored Spanish GCSE. By supporting the student in Spanish throughout his academic year and focusing on pronunciation and the speaking exam, he achieved a grade A in his official qualification. I have additionally tutored Economics A level for the past two years to four different students.

I aim to focus the lessons around what the student struggles with the most, whether it is writing, speaking or listening in Spanish or Economics to make sure they achieve the highest grade possible at either GCSE or A level.

I will start by covering what they have done at school to make sure that they have understood everything, as well as going through homework. I will then give them activities to do which will be sent to them beforehand. These may vary from past exam questions so that they practice exam technique, to writing and grammar or speaking activities.

I will measure progress by setting tasks to do at home and then marking and giving feedback on them. However, this will always depend on the amount of work the student already has from school as sixth form in particular already involves a heavy amount of workload and I aim to make my lessons as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.

To encourage learning, the student will always have a say in what we do in the session. This will ensure that they are finding them helpful and useful.
