About Rachel
I am a four year student-athlete and a 2020 graduate of Transylvania University. I finished my studies at Transylvania with a 4.0 GPA, receiving a B.A. degree in Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry. I completed the coursework for the Pre-Health track at Transylvania University and have been accepted into the University of Kentucky College of Medicine for the class of 2025. I am currently a volunteer tutor in mathematics for the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning's after-school tutoring program. As a junior and senior, I tutored fellow students in collegiate science and mathematics courses. In the summer preceding my junior year, I also tutored a fifth grade student in reading and mathematics at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning. I also have experience tutoring high school students in mathematics and science courses. These experiences have allowed me to express my passion for helping students succeed in the classroom while allowing me to develop adaptive and creative methods of instruction.

I encourage each student that I tutor to actively participate in the learning process, and I welcome their opinions regarding covered material in order to provide them with a sense of responsibility in their own education. My experiences as a collegiate tutor and a volunteer tutor at Lexington’s Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning have provided me with the fulfilling opportunity to witness and contribute to individual growth while teaching me the importance of incorporating creativity into problem-solving. I have also strengthened my time management skills by effectively structuring the sessions to best suit the students’ learning styles. Since every person has a unique learning style, I hope to rely on my education, patience, creativity, and experience to become an instructor who continually brings knowledge and a passion for academics to my students.
