I like to first ask the student what they feel they need the most work on. In reviewing essays, I like to read line by line with the student and show them mistakes if I see them. I then take the time to explain how to fix it. I like to practice with the student on working on these areas so they can pick them out for themselves in the future. This is the key for developing more independence in one’s writing.
