I am a college student that currently works on at Santa Monica College as a supplemental instructor mentor and leader. SI Leaders facilitate sessions to help students learn course concepts, learn effective study skills, and prepare for exams through collaboration, interactive study sessions, and the use of bloom's taxonomy. My teaching method is centered around increasing student autonomy by utilizing three techniques that generate effective interaction patterns between students and instructors. The three techniques are redirecting questions, wait time, and checking for understanding. These three techniques ensure that the sessions are centered on student needs, enforces student facilitated study groups and prevents the instructor from silencing the students.
