About Stephanie

I have been teaching for 3 years. I have taught for non-profit organizations bringing engineering education to lower-resource middle and high school kids, as well as at Google in their Computer Science Foundations program. My students have all excelled in their classes, and those who were really interested have gone on to take higher level computer science courses.

About the lesson

I recently graduated from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University with a degree in Computer Science. For the past few years I have taught Introduction to Computer Science, Web Development, and Programming to middle and high school kids and a few adults.

My mode of instruction changes depending on the student but I usually start by explaining a concept, often relating it to familiar examples, and then we go over a few examples of the concept in practice. Then I leave you to work on a few problems yourself, standing by to answer questions that may come up. After than we go over the work to make sure you've really understood it. I like to do problems that have some application to real life, since programming is so fundamental to how we live today.

I am patient and kind and genuinely enjoy seeing the moment when a concept makes sense to you. I take being your guide through the topic seriously and am always willing to answer questions on it.
