About Alyssa
My interest in programming began with curiosity about how software can transform ideas into functional systems. This led me to pursue a B.Sc in Software Engineering, where I gained expertise in coding, software design, and algorithmic thinking. Over 11 years of teaching, I have guided students from initial hesitation to confident coders, helping them understand both the “how” and the “why” behind solutions. I approach teaching with patience, clarity, and adaptability. Many learners struggle because programming is often taught too abstractly or quickly. I focus on breaking problems into manageable steps, using real-life examples and interactive exercises to ensure understanding. I encourage questions and experimentation, fostering a safe and motivating learning environment. Outside of teaching, I stay actively engaged with software development through personal projects, studying emerging technologies, and exploring new frameworks. These experiences allow me to provide contemporary insights and practical applications in lessons. Teaching programming is deeply fulfilling because I see learners gain independence, problem-solving skills, and confidence, equipping them to create and innovate in the digital world.
