About Charlie
I've been programming as a passion for the past 10 (nearly 11) years of my life. I was 8 years old when I first started my programming journey, so you can trust me when I say I know what it feels like to be a beginner. My programming skills didn't fully nurture and develop until the start of my high school journey (around 11 years of age).
I worked to get a 9 in Computer Science at school and an A* at A-Level and during that time my love of computers and programming never once faded.
I want to teach this amazing skill for two main reasons. I believe that anybody, no matter what job or skill level, can benefit from learning programming. From wanting to how your microwave knows how long to cook your food to how the checkout system at your super-market job actually works, programming is something that can benefit anybody.
The second reason I want to teach programming is that I love watching people pick up this skill. It fills me with excitement when someone asks even the most basic of questions, because I know that that person is actively trying to learn something that will help them, or even just for fun.
I always make sure that each of my students feels safe and respected during my lessons, whether you're 9 or 79. I want you to know that in my lessons, you are never judged, never unsafe and should never ever feel nervous or discouraged.

I make sure that every student has a healthy mix of theoretical knowledge about what they are doing in Python and why, as well as the practical skills to implement those things in a nurturing and non-judgmental environment.
A lesson will typically last around an hour, though this can be extended or shortened if desired. Each lesson will focus on a concept that you need to know, then giving you the practical skills you need to implement that concept, as well as any tips and tricks I can offer to give you a well-rounded experience of the programming world.
I received an A* at A-Level Computer Science as well as programming as a hobby for many, many years. Whilst at sixth form I tutored my fellow classmates for free and helped one of them build their grade from a D to an A.
My lessons are designed for people of all ages and levels. I will try my best to modify the lessons for your level, but if you don't understand any concepts or ideas please feel free to stop me and tell me you don't understand. I will happily explain everything in as much detail as you would like.

Charlie is extremely thorough, making sure that you know all of information you need to before moving on. If you have a question, he will answer it. No matter how stupid the question. He helped me through a time where I wasn't sure what career I was going to have. Now I'm starting my Programming Apprenticeship at BT. Can't recommend enough!
Charlie helped me during my Computer Science A-Level. A large part of the subject was to do a programming project and this terrified me because I'd never coded before. However Charlie helped me to work through it and gave me really good advice about Python as well as how Web Servers worked. Couldn't recommend him enough as he is really knowledgeable and so warm and kind when you're learning
