About Seth

I’m a senior at Cornell University majoring in Government with a strong background in English, writing, and communication. I earned a 36 on the ACT Reading and Writing sections and have extensive experience working in professional research and writing roles, including drafting client alerts and legal memos at a national law firm last summer. In addition, as a published opinion writer for The Cornell Daily Sun and an experienced peer editor on campus, I’ve spent years refining my own writing while helping students strengthen their essays, organize ideas, and write with clarity and confidence. I am very passionate about writing and am currently completing a 120-page honors thesis on political campaign music. I’ve also worked as a baseball coach and assistant teacher, where I developed strong communication skills and enjoyed connecting with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

About the lesson

My lessons are focused on helping students become confident, thoughtful, and effective writers and readers. Whether you’re working on an essay, a college application, the English section on the ACT, or improving your overall English and analytical skills, I take a personalized approach that adapts to your goals and writing style. Each session begins by identifying what you want to improve—whether it’s clarity, structure, grammar, or tone—and then we work through specific examples together to build lasting skills.

I aim to make writing feel less stressful and more engaging by breaking down assignments into manageable steps and offering clear, constructive feedback. If it is an essay, I will help you develop the skills to organize and outline ideas effectively, craft strong thesis statements, and write with purpose and flow. For reading and comprehension work, I focus on strategies that help students identify key arguments, interpret meaning, and build confidence with critical analysis.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students and make complex writing concepts approachable. I don’t just edit; I teach students how to think like strong communicators—so they can succeed in any writing setting. I also aim to make my lessons exciting and enjoyable, whether through unique creative and fun exercises or practical, real-world examples that help students see the purpose behind what they’re learning

My lessons are ideal for elementary, middle, and high school students who want to strengthen their academic or creative writing and feel more confident expressing themselves through words.
