My teaching method is relaxed and fun! I focus on helping you understand so you can feel confident doing it on your own. I like to make things simple and easy and move into harder area's once you feel you are ready.
I'll start with the basics:
How to setup a sewing machine
How to sew basic seams - including french seams, open and closed seams, decorative seams, etc.
How to sew pockets
How to construct a garment and follow a pattern
Overlocking
Basic Patternmaking - including dart manipulation, cut and slash method and draping.
Basic Design and colour theory
And then we can move into:
Bringing your design to life
Fabric and Fabric uses
Intermediate patternmaking including princess bodice's, sleeves, pants, skirts and leggings.
I can work around whatever you would like to learn and we can go on an adventure together! :)
I am a 24 year old freelance designer and maker with 14 years experience in sewing and designing. I have studied Millinery, Cobbling, Fashion Design and Costume Design. I have experience in sewing/making and garment construction, pattern making, draping, designing, colour theory and hand sewing. I have tutored some of my friends in sewing and want to help other people who want to learn.
I cannot offer refunds if there is cancellations. I have to work around my seasonal theatre work and my University.
There will be extra fees depending on travel if you are further away and depending on time and students level, there may be extra charges for more advanced lessons or lessons that last longer than an hour.
Diploma in Live Production and Technical Services (Costume for Performance)
Cert III in Millinery
Cert IV in Applied Fashion Design and Technology
I studied a Bachelor of Stage and Screen as well at CSU in Wagga Wagga.
In High School, my electives included Textiles and Design, where I achieved a mark in the top 5% of Australia. I also did Art and Design and Media production in High School.
I have been sewing since the age of 10, so 14 years of mostly self taught experience and also 5+ years of study in the area of Sewing, Garment Construction and Design. I love sewing and helping others and hope to bring smiles and experience to others.
I'm a cosplayer as well and have been cosplaying for 12 years and have won many awards for Best Handmade Costumes. I also run a small self employed business where I take commissions and sell my Millinery and costumes.

Sarah has been able to help me assemble several cosplay pieces over the last five years, and is someone I trust completely to guide me through their creation.
She has a deep understanding of the field and over a decade of experience, and is always willing to share it with those who ask.
I couldn't recommend her more highly to anyone looking to learn from a bright and friendly face, at any level of sewing.
Seriously, she's just the best. 11/10.
I was honoured to be able to be a model for Sarah, she is extremely talented in sewing and anything and everything creative! She's absolutely lovely to work with and makes a fantastic teacher.
Sarah is an amazing designer, costume maker and is truly passionate about her craft. She uses ths best quality materials and will deliver on time. Highly recommend her. She has studied for many years in pattern making, sewing, design, art and millinery and she really knows her stuff.
Sarah is the most nice and lovely person you'll ever meet. We met via work, where she was my supervisor. She is endlessly supportive and positive and I can't recommend anyone better than her!
Sarah is absolutely amazing. A single 3 hour class and I had already refreshed all my basics, learnt all my measurements and made a pattern for a Peplum top completely from scratch and began sewing it! She is patient, understanding and teaches things as you go along, so you're not bombarded with information you don't know how to use. If you have a Project in mind and you would love to learn how to do a tricky part, read a store bought pattern, chose the right fabric, needles and thread for the job or even if you're a complete beginner, she is amazing and will help you get where you want to be!!
